What is Classical Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga is a type of yoga that includes asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing), pratyhara (inner reflection), dharana (concentration), and dhyana (meditation) in a mindful way to help bring peace, balance and connection to the body, mind and soul.

Hatha yoga in Sanskrit “Ha” means sun and “tha” means moon, the yoga of balance.

Classical Hatha Yoga has been taught from teachers direct from India where Yoga first began over 5,000 years ago.

What happens during a class?

The classes offered through Journey 2 Balance typically start with a centering practice by sitting or laying bringing the body into the present, followed by focusing on controlling the breathing (pranayama), postures (asanas), relaxation, concentration and meditation.

A yoga class can range anywhere from 30-120 minutes depending on the class.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, when coming out to a yoga class.  I also teach people wearing office attire in their workplace, so yoga can really be done in any type of clothing.
